i have had my cdl temps with class A and B, and the tanker endorsment also for about 5 months. so last week i took my skills test for class B. i passed and went to to the dmv to upgrade my licence. when i left the dmv i realized they put class A and B. but i didn't take the skills test for A. is this normal or is it a mess up on there part? and if it is a mess up and i leave it could it come back to haunt me in the long run?? or is this because i took the written test for both A and B. I have talked to a couple truckers and they said this is normal. but my boss believes it's a flaw in the system. thanks ahead of time for the info!

CDL temps? Did you actually have both?
I'm sorry I can't tell if you are saying you had two or are just mistyping it in plural like some seem to do. Example: I gots my CDL's -
no, just one cdl, i took the written for a and b but only the skills test for b. but my licence now says abcd with no restriction. and n endorsment. my father in law said that since i took the knowlage test for combonation they automaticly give me class a.
-
Yeah it sounds like some sort of mistake, though I can't imagine why the DMV's computer would even be programmed to make such a mistake. Mine only says Class A, which automatically means A-D. If they list them all, then it sounds like you accidentally got "A" credentials.

in wisconsin your licence must show abcd. every one at work tells me to just roll with it. i had my cop buddy run my name and it came back that i have valid abcd.

If you look up the differance. You'll understand why.
-
what do you mean differance?
-
half the people i ask say it's legit and the other half say they don't know. i'm just stressin cuz with the class a i get a 2.50 dalla raise
-
Call the DMV. If the mistake has been made, they're not going to notice, they'll just tell you what your qualification is in the computer.

You're only restricted by the combination weight.
Class A -- You can tow trailers with a GVWR of 10,001 lbs. and more.
Class B -- You can only tow trailers up to 10,000 lbs.
If you have an A, you have the B. Stepping up to a class A from a B, is as simple as the knowledge test. Which you've taken.
