Cleaning nasty aluminum wheels

    Just becareful of some of these wheels that claim to either not be hurt by chemicals or chemicals that claim to not hurt wheels. My boss has this acid stuff they only use on certain areas, and even then only very lightly as it will very quickly eat the polish and finish off wheels. Had a vendor come in with a wheel sample that they claimed was impervious to these chemicals, boss poured some of this stuff in a bucket, the guy dipped this wheel sample in, within two minutes it turned the wheel sample white. After repeated rinsing and buffing, he got rid of most of the white, but, you could still see the discoloration.

    I had the Alcoa XBR Dura Brights and nothing at the Blue Beacon hurt them. And I did have brightener used on them. Pretty sure Alcoa came out with something that is supposed to be better yet. 3 year warranty.

    chrome over polished wheels is doable,they polish them out then chrome plat,looks like chrome on an aluminum wheel
