The inverter was only a outlet with the APU, the APU made enough power for the inverter to run the coffee maker, now with no APU your inverter can't get enough power. Try idleing the truck, 10 minutes or so won't kill anyone.

if the invertor is smaller than 800w it woun't power a caffee maker and must be HARD WIRED to the battiers

the small ones that plug into the 12v outlets just don't have the power to run something that big

your talking about a heater source. you need about 1500 watts to make that coffee burner work.

any type of heater device requires a lot of wattage. they are the most power consuming

Thanks for all the replies, don't see any easy access on pro star to run wires through cab to batteries though so dont want to mess w that. Also tried finding a coffee maker that draws 400w or less but the lowest seems to be 650w.

I think I would have to get a new truck. Coffee is mandatory.:biggrin_2556:

Yep, coffee makers are watt hogs. A 1500W will do. If you want all the toys invest in a 2500W. You might want microwaved eggs with that coffee! :)

Heat water on turbo in aluminum pan by high idling engine.
Spoon your favorite instant coffee into a mug.
Pour scalding hot turbo water into mug and Wahlah!
This recipe takes just 6 minutes and you're enjoying your Hot cup of mud without the hassle!
