For the next 6 to 12 months, if you are travelling I-70 through Colorado, with plans to go through Glenwood Canyon, pay very close attention to the weather reports. I've driven the canyon twice in the last two days, it is a disaster waiting to happen. Colorado. Dept. of Transportation and Garfield County have emergency crews and equipment on standby, one rainstorm and the mountains will come crashing down. They have already had dozens of small rock slides, but from talking to a friend who works closely with CDOT in the area, there is palpable fear among workers as to what will happen once it starts raining or snowing.
