Do you need any special permits if you are going to Colorado? I know about the chain law. Thanks. Tom

Besides USDOT, MC, IFTA, IRP, UCR?

One thing I’d suggest is having the last 8 of your VIN number lettered on the side of your truck. If you don’t have it showing you’ll be pulled in at every scale in Colorado that you enter.,

Except, most scales in Colorado are rarely open anymore. Since control of the ports changed from Dept. of Revenue to Colorado State Patrol, port hours and days have changed. The only 24/7 port in Colorado now is EB 70 at Fruita, all others are random days/random hours. Most are 4 am to 11 pm, at random. 25 NB at Trinidad is now 4 am to Midnight 7 days a week, although occasionally they are closed as well.

The westbound one on 76 by Fort Morgan is open every time I’m going to Denver.
And flatbedcarrier is correct you get flagged to go inside every time if with you don’t have the last 8 of your VIN on your truck door.
