I've read that JB Hunts national salary average is $54k. No way that number is going to nearly double in 5 years... LOL.

    SteerTire Thanks this.

I've heard in some cases where that number goes down in 5 years

Did for me, in ‘08. I didn’t like it. But I wasn’t going to get more by quiting.

I’m reaping the benefits now. But #### is was a bumpy ride getting here.

Check out Advantage Trucking in SLC. They do full and LTL loads in all 48, but you aren't doing much physical labor. They do a lot of wine hauling and perhaps you could get a dedicated run from SLC to the west coast and home on weekends.I talked to an older driver a few months ago that was making $80k a year with them on salary just doing the Utah to Oregon run. Of course you'll be chaining up in winter, but if you don't have a problem with that it sounds like a decent gig.

I spent last Thursday and Friday at the T/A near Tooele waiting for my reefer to be fixed. It was cold.

Advantage Trucking sounds great. I not crazy about having to chain up but hey that's part of the job.

Advantage Trucking is 34 minutes from my house. Salary sounds great. Get the job done and relax.

You are going to spend a number of thousands per year on food. The difference between spent and saved might be buying house money.

You might have to emigrate to a area with hardly no cost of living compared to where you are now. You literally go Where the jobs are

Advantage Transportation looks like the best deal.
Lots of local & line haul work around your area, such as Central Transport.
