About to graduate this week. I have been in contact with any and all recruiting companies that have visited my school. I was wondering what other opportunities I may be missing out on. Thank you for any information on companies to apply with.
Companies hiring out of Dallas or Fort Worth Texas.

Which companies have you already applied with?
Do you have endorsements?
How many hours was the CDL school?
Your age; are you over 21, 22, 23? There is no maximum hiring age but there are minimum hiring ages.Last edited: Sep 25, 2024
Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this. -
After you make decisions like that. Then you can determine what companies to apply to. Just going with whomever is hiring won't work longterm. And in a megatropolis like The DFW working at a local or regional company is good. It would be m-f with weekends off and decent pay.
So look into trash companies, food service (ppl tend to stay 5yrs or less at food service because its solid labor ), concrete companies, dump truck/ construction companies, LTL companies, fuel hauling companies, and etc. OTR is only if you want to be gone. Because the DFW has plenty of companies to choose from. However in 9.75 out of 10 cases. You won't finish at the company that you start with.
BUT PLEASE TAKE THIS ONE IMPORTANT LEVEL OF ADVICE FROM A 20YR DRIVER.
DO NOT DO A LEASE PURCHASE!!!!!!!!!!nextgentrucker, Concorde, Adventure620 and 2 others Thank this. -

What are your expectations for work. EVRRYBODY wants to be paid a lot and be home every day. So be specific.

As others have said, it totally depends on what you want to do. I will say that I drive for J Rayl out of their Sunnyvale, Texas terminal (just east of Dallas off of US 80 close to I-635). I’m coming up on six years with them, and I’m pretty happy here.

Check out Fort Worth carrier (FWCC) of course out of Fort Worth.

If you don't mind going only 62 MPH, Raider Express is in Fort Worth, I believe. They do a lot of DFW to Denver runs so you'll be running US-287 a lot.

I am well over my 20’s
I am interested in a home weekly or more role.
I have applied with Werner as well as McElroy. I have spoken to recruiters with Total MS,and Melton who came to our school.
I have been approved by Werner after an interview, but they only have team OTR available right now for my location. McElroy let me know today my gap in work history will not work for them at this time. (I have been a stay at home dad since July2022.) I am more interested in working the Werner - Home Depot dedicated route home daily in my area. Those are not available at this time.
I have applied with Waste Management, and Republic Services for local roll off driver.
As far as my desired roles, I am not young and not really interested in heavy touch loading or unloading. But I am ok with the idea of flatbed work, and interested in vehicle towing/ wrecker work. I have experience with forklifts of several types, and a local delivery flatbed with a moffet sounds interesting to me as well. Most I have found, need experience.
Thanks for any assist.Flat Earth Trucker and Chinatown Thank this. -
