Hmmmm ok, it's been 3 years since you failed so you can work somewhere. Companies usually want the test to be in the rear view mirror for at least 3 years. If it was 5 years removed, Magnum up in Fargo will take you. I'd try anyway though. You never know as bad as these companies want drivers.

Thank you, I will do that. Ya, it's been roughly 2 and a half years. I've had a couple companies tell me they could reconsider me after 3. Some have said 5, others 10

I would assume that means salary based rather than cpm?

1099 is just another way to file taxes, basically means you're an independent contractor. Some companies hire "company drivers" under this model, it absolved them from the responsibility of taking out taxes, offering benefits, workman's comp etc. It's really not legal, but many fleet owners across the country do it anyway. They hire you under that umbrella but treat you like a company driver. I drove like that for several years because I had a dirty drug test back in 2011. I also had misdemeanors that needed to get some time behind them. It was never a long term solution. I just did it long enough to clean up my record, put some years past the drug test, and get back to working for a reputable company. Altogether it took me 8 years. However I never did SAP though. I got clean before the clearinghouse began. I think you're in a better position since you e gone to SAP, and it's been 3 years since you've tested positive. Many members on here will be naysayers to 1099 companies, but for the short term, it isn't a bad idea. It ain't the place to make a long term career but it's somewhere to get a check, and more experience under your belt. It looks better when you have had consistent time behind the wheel. They are not the best situations, but you'll make some money and be able to pay your bills.

How do I find these guys, because im getting turned down left and right. The SAP friendly companies ive managed to find have all said they are not accepting SAP at this time...I dont know if there has been a change from the large insurance companies that is causing this or what, but there is something that seems to be changing. I would definitely be willing to take my licks for awhile until I get more separation from this

If you go in Craigslist, there will be an endless supply of those companies. On here you'll see some threads about Chicago companies that are ran by Eastern European fellas or Russians. It's some horror stories. I worked for one for about a year, and I worked for another one 1099 company down in Memphis for 5 years. I wouldn't have to do the Chicago one but I had an accident that needed 1 more year to fall off. What's 1 year? I figure if you can gut this out 6 months to a year, you should be gravy. Before you go the 1099 route, make sure you try Triton Logistics, GP Transco, National Express Carriers, and HMD first. I'd rather see you exhaust all options before going that route and if those aforementioned companies turn you down, use the 1099 companies as a temporary solution.
