Are there other companies you can lease a truck to similar to landstar (no flatbed, bad back)? I want the freedom to take off when and for however long i want without being hounded. Just trying to keep my options open. Thanks

Seriously, just get your own Authority. After the 1st year your insurance premium will go down and you’ll literally be in full control of your own destiny.

Im buying my truck for cash. I dont want a payment. Starting a business already in debt is why 90% of new businesses fail. Im also putting $20k in an expense account for catastrophic breakdowns. I have a set amount of money im putting into this to keep it low risk. Ive done the math and getting my own authority, buying my own trailer, and the cost of insurance for new authorities does not make fiscal sense for me right now. in a year perhaps 2, if things go smoothly it probably will make sense. Ive been driving for 17 years, i know the business well, but not well enough to go throwing $150k at it. which is what you really need if you want to get your own authority, keep costs down, stay relatively debt free, and give yourself enough of a safety net to stay afloat if things go sideways.

You can lease a truck to almost any company you want to. Just about all companies are always looking for owner operators. Similar to Landstar, maybe Dart? Mercer(dry van side)?

Landstar doesn't hound you if you take off. I'd take off months at a time, they would call every now and then, just to check and see if I was ok. Last couple of years I was with with them,I did less than 10k miles a year,no problem.

You just put this exact same reply on another thread. You must be bitter about being let go by Landstar or your recruiting for Admiral.
