    I worked for Landstar for 2 years, and now I'm looking at starting my own agency. However, Landstar will not let me start an agency through them without permission from my previous boss. So I'm looking for a company that's comparable to Landstar in the way they operate. I need a company that has owner operators that I can place on my loads. Also, I do not have any drivers to bring with me, so a company that doesn't require that is a must.

    You must have worked for one of Landstar's agents? If so, have you approached your former boss to see if they will sign off on your going with Landstar? Mercer does have independent agents, similar to Landstar. So does Universal Truckload (formerly Universal AmCan) and CRST Malone also has independent agents. Some agents work with more than one company.

    My previous boss is not a real nice guy. So I know he won't sign off on me starting my own agency.

    Any other companies? I'm waiting on responses from these. Is CH Robinson, Schneider, or Werner anything like Landstar?
