I paid for less gas, so I had more cash, does that count? I got passed by the same fast truck 3 times in 476 miles last night, so I guess it don't matter how fast the truck is, just depends on the driver.

He might not. But I do.

Since I pay for the fuel in my truck as an owner operator, I keep the speed lower.

    It is very profitable.

I don't think anyone but an idiot would suggest, or has, that best fuel consumption occurs at higher speed. What they are saying is with HP and Torque, adequate gearing, & driving with your head above your waist will yield acceptable efficiency ratio Burn Rate vs. Rate of Travel.

No one is suggesting they are getting the best possible burn rate at speed in a turned up truck.

I meant no disrespect or cynicism...well, maybe a little...LoL~! But I am admittedly new, and gathering as much reliable info as I can...and, until you press a few buttons, you don't get the skinny quite as soon...so, THANX for helping me understand...and I do mean that sincerely~!

This sounds like a thread for 12 year olds. If you want to go fast buy a motorcycle. If you want to drive an 80,000lb vehicle and survive (and make money) slow down!

Like I said, I am gathering information...so...yes, I am acting like a twelve-year-old...because I have no experience in the industry...much like a twelve-year-old has no experience in the realities of adulthood~!

Well, if you want to drive 62mph, drive the back roads. Heck, at least do the speed limit. No one is saying that you can get better mpg at 80 than 70, it is just annoying trying to avoid all the 62mph trucks. But, the interstate minimum is 45, you could get great mileage at 45. Hey lets all do 45 and we can get great mileage, I'll get 60mpg on my bike at 45. :biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559:

I don't agree with governing trucks, but I would never run high speed either. Besides the road hazard that governed trucks create in states with the higher speed limits, the simple fact that the pulling power is negated on governed trucks counters the intended gain of governing the trucks. My hubby's truck is not governed, and he regularly pulls mid 6's for fuel economy. He also doesn't run balls out either.
