Sorry dude, bad advice and rather dumb advice at that.

You've never been through a real audit, where their commercial investigators take your records and find all kinds of things that you CAN'T write off.

If someone gets audited, get an EA.

    noluck Thanks this.

That was for 2015. For tax year 2016, it's $63/day......and you can claim 80% if you fall under DOT transportation hours of service rules.

    noluck Thanks this.

Depends on what else you are doing that is business related. One may not be able to write off the actual expense of Disney World, but the trip and hotels they might, if they combine that trip with business. I do that. Wife wanted to go to Graceland in Memphis a couple of years ago. I set up a business meeting with my oil supplier out of St. Louis and therefore wrote off the actual costs for our personal vehicle (business use of personal vehicle, at the time 55.5 cents a mile) and one of the hotel stays near St. Louis off with no issue. The actual time at Memphis and hotels there, no. 1500 mile round trip, 55.5 cents a mile just in vehicle use gave me a $832 deduction.

Were you born an A-hole, or is it something you had to work at?
