I work for a company in Chicago as owner operator and later things went from bed to worse, they pay only like 3 of 4 weekly settlements in a month and now owe me over 6 weeks of salary worth over 20k- what should I do?
Company hasn't paid my last 6 weekly statement

Stop working for free. Seems you did not learn your lesson when they didn't pay right away. Might be able to get a lawyer and chase the money in court but you are gonna be waiting for them to pay. Chicago is a bad area to work for those bad companies seem to be everywhere. Good luck!

Pick up a load and hold it hostage. Freight volume has been down quite a bit for the past 3 weeks or so, company might be racking up cash and preparing to go under while screwing drivers and brokers. 20k is a decent amount of money, I’d do everything I could to get it back. Legally or illegally.

Wow, 20k is a lot to be owed. I’m not an expert, but i think you should definitely stop working for them immediately. Have you considered contacting the labor board? They might be able to help.

the carrier can charge you a lot more than the value of the load you steal.Siinman, Short Fuse EOD and OlegMel Thank this. -
