Hello
I've been considering the idea to purchase a 2009 Volvo VNM and would like to know your opinions.
Currently own a 1999 Freightliner FL112 with a Cummins ISM with 450,000 miles. I've owned this truck for 10 years now and its been really good to me but I'm not as young anymore and considering the idea of switching to something more comfortable. I have no experience with any other truck other than the one I own now. The truck Im considering is a 2009 Volvo VNM with a D11 (obviously with EGR and DPF) with 400,000 miles and a 10 speed manual transmission. I don't need the big horsepower as my current set up does just fine and is very economical.
My business consists of local flatbed deliveries. Annual mileage that I put in the truck is around 30-40k.
I would like your opinions on the D11 motor more than anything. I've tried to research online about them but there isn't much out there, good or bad. It seems that the D12 and D13 are the more popular selection.
Thank you in advance.

2008-2010 Volvo were the worst in term or reliability. Get 1998-2007, or 15+
86scotty Thanks this. -
Or just dont get a volvo at all.
gearjammr78 Thanks this. -
Any more input ?
Thanks -
No sorry your buying a day cab. So most guys here won't no anything about a d11.
But I also traded put of my good old truck. For a newer comfortable truck. How will going from one day cab to another be more comfortable?
I recently rented an international day cab, and a Volvo day cab. Both were cramped and required me to get a room at night. Didnt see or feel a big comfort difference. Have you considered getting a sleeper truck with a small sleeper. Maybe volvo 670? -
Thank you for the input.
I need a day cab. The places that I have to get In are very tight. There is no room for a sleeper truck. I have ridden my friends Volvo for a couple of days and there is a big difference when it comes to Comfort, cab noise, etc.
I have an approximate 50 miles radius of work distance so there is never a need for an overniter.
My main concern is that trying to get into more comfort instead I end up paying somewhere else. -

i'd follow Dune's advice above and stay away from anything from 08 to 12 or 13 at least. Doesn't matter which engine, the emissions stuff was just too new then and not sorted out.

If you arent in California then you could have it "fixed" and will be a fine truck 2008 to 2010 pre def emissions.
