What's wrong with the 2 sticker? I'd have to think switching over would be a huge hassle.
BUMBACLADWAR and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
I'm sure it's possible but the aggravation of finding an automatic that could pair up to that engine would be way more than shifting 2 sticks lol especially one that's in good condition
BUMBACLADWAR and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
Are you thinking of an auto shift or putting in an Allison? Auto shift should require an engine with an ecm.

transmission, transmission to engine adapter, transmission cross member, drive shaft(s), plumbing, maybe wiring...
yup, it can be done.
or do a complete resto-mod, with new engine, transmission, and all associated parts.
yup.....money talks, BS walks.....BUMBACLADWAR Thanks this. -
Find an older non electrical Allison. Finding flexplate might be a bear.
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
Curious as to why you would want to do that to a 78 Mack r. Is this a restored truck that you use as your money maker? If not, and it’s just a toy, getting rid of the 5 speed and putting a auto in it will break enthusiasts hearts everywhere
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -

If it's a 2 stick 6 speed, that was the "lazy man's" truck.
buddyd157 Thanks this.
