Sadly I remember the good 'ol days of trucking and I've only been around it since the mid '80's. My dad started about that time with JB Hunt. I helped him with his homework from truckdriving school. My brother-in-law was working during this time too.

I started in '00. It still was pretty good then. My pay has went down every year since then.

The more I have thought about this since I heard of it, the more I can see that they have no chance of winning the case (the drivers I mean).
All swift has to prove is that it is a standard industry practice, which it has been for many years.
All the cases against it are doomed to fail. Even though I think that all drivers should be paid HUB miles. Which is odometer miles.

Problem with shorter miles or what ever they still use is this. Lets say your delivering in Atlanta, and once you reach the city limits your pay stops. Even if you final destination is still 20 miles away within the city limit.. I have always had a problem with this..Once I had a load that paid 1500 miles, when actually the trip was a total of 1800 miles. So in the end I drove for 300 miles free. This in no way is fair to the driver..

Seems to be the way companies like to pay.

We are paid practical miles and make more per mile than the companies doing the same thing that pay HHG.

Not perfect, but at least cloase to actual routing.

I'm sure you don't. I work with many who ride the clock and often as possible just to get their 12-14hrs in.. If I finish my loads for the day under my shift time, I go home..

Maybe it's time for the newbies to wise up and ask the old guys how it used to be,..And more importantly how it should be,...

There is power if all drivers would stand together!!
