I worry this decision may be counter productive. Big companies will find a way to get around it.

for the rest of us, for one, i am on dedicated/salary and for my particular job, there are no waiting times, once my trailer is loaded, at the d/c.
this "could mean" huge layoff's of OTR drivers, if the status quo of too many available trucks at one location on a constant basis continues.
that WILL/CAN trickle down to the CDL Mills, and company sponsored CDL training, as then there will be no real need for any new recruits.
interesting to say the least...Midnightrider909 and bryan21384 Thank this. -

This will only have an impact on bottom feeders. And the consumer of course.
Anyone who thinks this is a win for drivers at any level of experience, are only fooling themselves. Even if they’re ordered to pay OT, it’s about $600 pretax.
Are there any drivers here with more than 3 months experience making less than that?
This is a feel good victory for idiots who can’t math, and burger flippers.06driver, Rubber duck kw, gokiddogo and 1 other person Thank this. -
At this point in time all the judge has said is that the drivers have a case. No actual decision as been made yet. And this case is currently only at the district level of the federal court system, so even if an actual decision had been made it would only affect companies based in that federal district. For it to affect companies nation wide the other federal districts would have to hand down similar judgements, or the Supreme court would have to step in and also pass the judgement.

I don't see any negative impact at all. LTL, Union, Wal-Mart, and probably a bunch more already do this. It's already happening in California and guess what...Almost everywhere you go now DETENTION CHARGES to the shippers/recievers because the carriers know they cant give away their employees time anymore for free.

This isn't a minimum wage law. Its a must pay employees for all their time law. If anything this will help O/O because the fleets might say screw it we'll just use O/O then.
Nothereoften Thanks this.
