I have been working with swift since February. I got off my mentors truck in early March. So l have the 3 months experience to go to a dedicated route with Walmart working for CR England out in Shafter, California that will get me home daily. I live about an hour from shafter which is better than my 2.5 hour commute to the swift terminal in Jurupa.
Is there anybody here that works that Walmart account out of Shafter that can give me some insight to if it's worth the switch? They're saying 1200 a week, and drive day cabs. but l've noticed that these truck recruiters are worse than military recruiters when it comes to lying considering swift told me the same thing and I haven't even cracked a 1k check as OTR at swift.
Thanks in advance! Any advice is greatly appreciated!
CR England (Local Walmart Dedicated) or stick it out with Swift

Job hopping that soon will not look good to subsequent potential CDL employers.
Also -- if Walmart kicks CR England off of that account soon after your (potential) transfer -- then what?

Really depends on how long you can stomach them & their b.s. -
An hour is a long commute each way after a long day. Is there anything else close to your hometown?

First of all, you’ve only got three months of experience you ain’t been out in this industry long enough to make top money… And if you haven’t been able to crack $1000 a week in three months with Swift, what are you doing wrong? And what are other issues you’re having with Swift?

If you leave after 3 months job hopping will make your next job even worse
Lonesome Thanks this. -
Tough it out and stay with Swift another 27 months then you'll meet the minimum requirements to get hired on directly with Walmart as long as you keep a clean driving record. Working for Walmart you'll earn $40,000-$50,000 more gross pay a year than what CR England would pay you doing the same job. If trucking is your long term game think about what's best long term here. 27 months is nothing and will go by quickly. You'll also have 1 employer in that time frame versus most other applicants having several jobs which looks/is better.

I fail to see where talking to another driver is any better than talking to a recruiter. One driver's story is never another driver's story. Many truckers are embellishers and lie the second they open their mouth.
My advice to you is to decide whether making this truly an upgrade. You need to make a list of the positives on both sides, and whichever has more positives, go for it. You'll need to commit to one of these companies for some time though. You're options are going to be thin until you get some experience, and even then, with the freight market as it is, you'll have thin options.Sirscrapntruckalot, Friend, rollin coal and 1 other person Thank this. -
Well your commute sucks, so I don't blame you for thinking about this.

Swift rarely get drivers long loads, most are short-haul loads as I recall, they have a lot drops and hooks but occasionally live loads and unloads and the .cpm is lower end. The only thing that made me stay with as long I did was working locally for them. They paid hourly but those accounts no longer exist because the company they hauled for went out of business. Personal experience, certain accounts you get more consistency on pay if your in the same region. I am not saying CR England doesn't have drivers who stick around but every driver I spoke to hated it there.
Before you join them see if there's not an account with the current company you get on some accounts do pay better for drivers I would say try say with that company 1 year because the issue I see is if you learn to jump ship and absolutely hate it over there you have 3 months job experience and your new job you will likely want to leave if its truly bad.
