A friend of mine with an unimpressive life history is wanting to get a cdl and drive a truck. He did a little calling around and told me he was offered training at crst.

Now I started out in cr england myself so I compared what he was offered to what I went through.

Training at crst would have to be partially repaid, and starting team pay was 22 cents a mile split. Plus he would need to get a few required endorsements.

I am not sure what it is now at cr england but I remember starting team pay was 30 cents a mile split, and I did not pay for a thing in training except the actual cdl fee permit fee when I was taking the tests. Housing and everything else was all taken care of. Plus no required endorsements. I hate to imagine going through the hassle of hazmat while splitting 22 cents with your partner.

Pay still was pretty low, especially comparing it to what I am making now, but starting out it was not too bad. If me and my partner each drove 500 miles in a day, that is $150 for each of us.

My buddy agrees and is talking to cr england now, hopefully they will take him. Like I said his work history and past are pretty bleak.

Lol ... Just when you thought you've heard it all ...

I guess if someone has a less desirable history you gotta sort of take what you can get ... Maybe after his record gets cleaned up (and has managed to survive starving to death) he could get on with one of the better paying team operations ... Odfl comes to mind ...

I would think Western Express or Swift would be a better option. #####....
