ok, I just wanted to know about this company
I haven't signed anything, just spoke to a gal and sent in an application on line
Then I get an email telling me to report on this date at a place and there is a list of stuff that I am to bring i. e. toothbrush, change of clothing for 2 dyas money to last for food and lodging for 3 weeks.
What the heck is this about?
After reading some of these night mare posts, was I going to be "shanghaied" off to one of their schools and not told?
NO WAY......
CR sign on tactic

omg that's way to funny you should just stay home and save us all the head ache of liseing to you wine.
you said you didn't sign anything...but you did send an application on line? umm usually when you fill out an application on line by sending it you are signing it.
also are you in the habit of just filling out applications on line for no apparent reason ?
a normal person does not fill out an application unless he / she wants something.
do you fill out a credit card application and then cut it up when it gets to you and say o no way dude whats this i didn't want that.

Um, excuse me, they assumed that you wanted to work for them since you applied. Also, these scam artist companies will just pack you up and ship you off ASAP before you have time to think about what you're doing. Just say no. You're better off paying for your school yourself or with a government grant, and then going to work for Werner, and letting them pay you back while you work for them. If you quit, you don't owe them a penny, they just stop paying your loan for you.
I drive for werner, and I'm honestly not trying to bring you in for my benefit. I simply feel that this is the only major company hiring students that isnt a total scam, and actually has a training program where when you are out of training, you are trusted with your own truck, by yourself, and are respected by dispatch and treated like someone who is fairly important to the survival of the company.
But...if you have an oppurtunity to get on with a smaller company, then go for it. It's always better than working for a mega corporation. But where I live, the easiest small carrier to get on with rejected me for insurance issues, and the others want 2+ years experience. I'm going to call those people up on monday and see how long i need to work for werner before i can work for them.
The smaller company i mentioned is Ralph Moyl of Mattawan, Michigan. You need 6 months experience to work for them, no accidents, and basically all they care about is their insurance rate as far as hiring goes. As long as you are approved by their insurance company and treat the office people you deal with with respect, AND they have seats to fill..you are IN. You have to show up in Mattawan in person and the lady that does the applications can be grumpy sometimes.
JimTheHut Thanks this. -
funny thing about Werner in MI, Ive had 4 students already that went threw the awesome Werner training only to be told OK we don't have a truck for you right now and were not hiring in MI right now but we'll let you know when we do. they go home and wait and after a month...now they have to go threw a refresher course, and at least 10 days training.
but hey that's what they told me, I'm not knocking Werner.
