Craiglist 1099 offer from student in CDL school who will be owner operator
Wants to pay $200 per day. Says hours vary from 6 to 11 per day, 5 days per week. Local regional.
I have some concerns about this being a student in CDL school who is going to be an owner operator. (I am a recent grad myself).
I am sure they are anxious to get out there and make money but I have concerns. The $200 per day with variable hours I don't think I can agree to. Should I request per mile, per hour? My goal was to get something part time local or local regional.
What kinds of questions should I ask? Thank you.

So the carrier probably has direct customer freight near 3 dollars per mile.
And they want to pay you $1000 per week , but you need to do your own taxes?
Just take out 15% for taxes and after deduction for perdeim you should be in the clear.
But that pay seems bad.faux_maestro, Texas_hwy_287 and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
You can do better than $1000 a week working for someone else being a company guy. You would have much less to worry about.

If you consider this job, you are nuts.

Look there is no way this is a decent offer, one of the worst I've seen in more than 40 years,
And what is this about being an o/o?
Why do people take the cheap way to become one, it is only going to end in failure.rabbiporkchop, Chinatown, sevenmph and 3 others Thank this. -
Ask how fast the trucks are governed for? Do they have fridge, and microwave? You will not be able to afford eating at the iron skillet.

Thank you everyone. Should I negotiate an hourly wage from the time I arrive at the yard to the time I leave the yard? Maybe $25 an hour...
FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
faux_maestro, Intothesunset and Tb0n3 Thank this.
