First of all Im not even a driver yet. Just reading threads on trucking. So from what I can read, companies make it easy or even push guys to lease. Am I right in thinking you dont have to have credit or even can have bad credit to do a LP? What happens when a person gives the truck back for whatever reason? Does that go on your credit? Just wondering, it seems odd.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

It's not your truck; you're just leasing it.
Some companies let you buy the truck when the lease is over, for market value.
Some set a price on the truck, then you lease it and pay it off for the company, by then it's worn out or has lots of miles, so they let you keep it, it's of no more use to them anyway. Each company has their own little deal on the lease-purchase, but of course it will favor the company, not the driver.

Buel Inc. runs Carolinas to Washington/Oregon turnarounds and has some program like that.

If you want to actually purchase a truck through a company, not lease, then Cardinal Logistics does that.

Lease-purchase deals don't care what your credit score is, they just want someone to make truck payments for them. If you walk away, they just lease the truck to another driver.
