Crete Carrier: what pay is actually like in the 21 day dry van fleet

lol, at 61 years of age I got no problem sitting still for 34.
I try planning it so I end up at a decent truck stop..like one with a Black Bear Diner, good showers and coffee.
And for the driver’s that do laundry on the road it’s a good time to get it done instead of wasting time during a 10.

Funny, I stopped doing laundry on the road about 5 years ago but never stopped saving quarters. lol, I probably got 50 lbs of quarters in the truck!

 

Don't you know, I still haven't had a chance to get to the Black Bear Diner yet....I saw the sign at the Petro in Joplin earlier, and I though of you lol..... man I haven't put quarters in the washer in ages.....I got spoiled by that app, then it stopped working for me for some reason. You operate a lot like how I do.....as the good coffee is a must. Tomorrow I gotta stop at Gaspers in Kingdom City to get that Jamaican Me Crazy flavor.

 

Some of the Black Bears can be quite disappointing like the one in El Paso at the Petro. You got to experience either the one in Kingman, AZ at the TA or in Barstow, CA at the TA.
Where is Gaspars, I may need to try that coffee.
Kingdom City is a regular stop for me but the construction there is something else. Couple weeks ago they had the on ramp heading west closed and I couldn’t figure out the detour signs. Ended up going east to the next exit to get turned around.

 

Gaspers is the truck stop across from the Petro on that exit, it has the Arby's inside. If you're going west on US 54 off of 70, you'll see it in the right. The truck stop itself has some hot food too. That particular flavor is in the machine as opposed to the spouts. The construction there is a little better, it's a roundabout now so there is better flow than a few weeks ago. I'll keep those Black Bear locations in mind, though I don't get to Arizona too frequently and don't get to Cali at all, maybe Johnstown, CO location will be on point since the old restaurant was.

 

Black Bear at the Petro in Johnson’s Corner is a good one.. Last 34 I took there I ordered 2 prime rib dinners, lol. And a Banana Cream pie to go

It’s definitely a good truck stop for a 34. Showers are good and they got a single serve coffee machine and decent laundry room.

The reserved spot’s are extra wide also.

 

Same here. Other than one job where I drove from Buffalo NY to Laredo and back (3600 miles) in 5 and a half days and then did a 34, every week.
But over several years of regular random OTR, I could count the 34 hour resets on the road on one hand. And I'd typically stay out for 2-3 months at around 3000 miles a week. Not trying to make every dollar i can TODAY or impress anyone with how eager I am....and then sleep til I can't sleep no more and start my next shift having been awake 19 hours already . I want a sensible, consistent, regular, moderate routine.

It looks like youre getting the miles for real! As long as the cpm isn't painfully low, its the miles that tell the story. I think it's cool that they have enough awareness to see you're making good time, and trying to get you on a new load.....I may have missed it, but did they put you in a Freightliner?

 

Dude as much as you talk about food you need to try black bear.
