As long as it’s still winter. Never get below a half tank of fuel!!

Many drivers got caught in the shutdown at grapevine this week. Low of fuel, and no way to keep warm.

A half a tank for you may last a day or 2 if you nurse it when stranded.

    bigguns and Amgios Thank this.

I'll take the northern I-90 route. However you have some storms coming through and they are fixing to be big. Or could be nothing. Plan on big.

Just remember when the weather gets too bad, and the truckers park it you best also.

I have emergency kits in my personal vehicles and in my semi truck year round. These change as to the time of year. Here is what i keep in my emergency winter kit in a Pack.
    Extra batteries
    Several bottles of water
    Blankets
Winter clothing (wool socks, thermal pants, shirt, wool cap, shemagh, wool lined gloves)
    Flashlight
    Flares
    Waterproof Matches
Sharp hunting knife, pocket knife, and a small ax
    Military folding shovel
    Signal mirror
    Emergency whistle
Food (non perishable) mainly M.R.E's, trail mix, energy bars, such things that are light, easy to pack.
Small pan (to boil water) you never know.
Rope, or 550 cord ( i have both)

This may seem extreme, but you never know. Better to have it, and not need it. Than to not have it, and need it.

I served 18 years in U.S.A.F Spec Ops unit. Thank your husband for his service.

    bigguns and Amgios Thank this.

There could be other supplies you could take, but to me these are the essentials i care on a daily basis. Your welcome. Glad to serve my Country. Is your husband being transferred to N.Y base?

    bigguns Thanks this.
