    Hello all!!

Any current/recent CRST students want to chime in on how the non-compete clause works with the contract?

I have a friend who left for Iowa on a bus this morning, long story short she has a past that CRST was willing to work with.

If she decides to leave after a few months and go solo, can she just resign and start making payments on the balance? Or would they want the entire loan paid immediately?

Here's the current letter, this pretty much sums it up. No, I've never worked there, just indirect pals with a recruiter elsewhere, who gets these all the time from potential applicants having started with CRST. IMHO, they don't play.

    Run from CRST.

Once the non compete contract is signed, the signer becomes an indentured servant who then must complete the terms of the contract.

If you quit or are terminated before your time is up, then whatever the dollar amount of the contract becomes due, and Crusty will not release you from the contract until that amount is paid.

And no carrier is going to pay Crusty to release you from their contract in order to sign you on.

Have your friend go to Wilson Logistics in Springfield, Missouri instead.

    Appreciate the input everyone!!
CRST was the only company that was willing to work with her with only a permit, she has a couple different charges and a very spotty employment record.
I tried to convince her to wait for Texas to cover a local school, but she was impatient and is already training with CRST now.
Anyone know if the contract is prorated? Or is the full amount due if the contract is broken?

I doubt she’ll last long OTR, I just told her get a few months in then start dropping local apps.

If she signed the contract, she will have to fulfill the terms of that contract.

There is no dropping local apps in a few months.

    Goodbye, Freedom. Hello, Indentured servitude.

Well that is MOSTLY true, it isnt 100% certain. I'm sure there are some (most likely smaller 1099, or local) companies. That dont use dac and would say how will they no? So be willing to take a chance.
But I wouldnt put all my eggs in that basket.

Better to finish the contract, they will not prorate the contract at all. Sure they'll take payments, but it is best just do the time, this is the best time of year to run for them anyway they seem to like the snow areas, better to get it over with. My son left CRST one day more than the contract, they even agreed that he completed it till he got home, then they told him he was one week short, and started coming after him for the balance, so he went back and ran for a month with a friend of his. There are things you will not get till you've run OTR, she should just buck-up and get it over with.

Basically, do the time or pay up someone signed this and is now having buyers remorse its really like buying a car these days. As long you paid them your pretty much free to go when I went to stevens I paid mine I don't like owing anyone anything. They may say you have stay there but as long you paid the cost a judge can't force you to stay. Also, you should have moved to Arkansas or Texas. Though I have heard judges forcing companies to rehire employees and those employees pretty much have it made.

As for that judge who made that call to be clear if you had money you can have brought to a higher court the only time it's pretty much set in stone is if a supreme court has made the final say but the process is expensive.
