Check the speed sensor resistance against another new one.

    Check wiring and continuity.

Check sensor is turned all the way in, then 1-1/2 turns backed out (I think).

    That’s all I got.

i had a 89 379 with throttle up knob on drivers side floor by the seat. turn it and the speed would increase. push the red button and that would release cruise. didnt have no hit brakes and cruise would cut off. cruise only cut off when red button was pushed.

Id be willing to bet that Truck had, or did have at one time, a PTO... That is the hand throttle to hold engine rpm at appropriate level for PTO operation. Was not intended for cruise control... Although it was probably more common than not for a driver to use it as cruise control in the days before actual cruise control.

Speed sensors I guess. I replaced 1 on the bottom fixed the speedometer as usual. Found out about the other a while later, on top it fixed the cruise. 99 Shaker Detroit / 13 spd
