Hello, I have a 2016 kenworth t680 with Cummins isx 15 with an oil temperature problem. I already change oil temperature sensor, water temperature sensor, water pressure sensor, water thermostat, oil pump, engine bearing set. And I still got the same issue. It only occurs when I am pulling heavy because whenever I am empty no matter how hot it is it don’t show the check engine with the wrench. Any ideas? Mechanic wants to do overhaul.

Did you change the oil thermostat in the cooler housing? How hot is it actually getting?

Have you gotten an opinion from an actual Cummins shop?

I haven’t change that thermostat I can’t tell how hot is getting because I do not have anything in the cluster that shows the oil temperature just the water temperature sometimes it is 180 or sometimes 210 and I still got the same code.

That could be the source of your problem.

    I don’t believe it’d be a overhaul issue.
    Probably sensor.
I know a couple people in AR that have Cummins insight and will work on that kind of engine

Do you not have a gauge for that in your Nav plus or Smart nav? I have 2014 KW with no boost or oil temp in cluster but it does on the gauges screen. Don't start overhauling it. It could be in the tuning and timing. Could be oil stat. It is about 85bucks. Change it. Cooler might be plugged? The bigger question there is with what? I am having very similar issues and have done everything except to change oil cooler and water pump. If I find a cure I will be sure and report it here.

    spsauerland and Oxbow Thank this.
