Charge air cooler?
-
Are you asking me or you think that's what it could be?
-
At least that is what someone told me when I was having trouble with an ISX 15 leaking coolant. In my case it was a slow steady steam from bottom of radiator.
Has a shop done a pressure test to try and identify any leaks?
If the rig is not driven or only short rides is the lost coolant any less? -
Look inside your fuel tanks and check for coolant at the bottom.
wore out and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Don't see anything in the fuel tank.. I did.
Take the radiator cap off And there's very little pressure -
Pressure test your cooling system and check for leaks. Looking at the engine from underneath is a great way to find pesky leaks as gravity will pull it down. They aren't always in plain view from the side. Sometimes the leak drips onto hot exhaust parts such as the manifold and instantly burnt and evaporated away. Air compressors can drink coolant, check for coolant at the air dryer purge valve or tank drain valve. Also check the sleeper HVAC heater core for leaking. They like to leak down the side and will soak in the insulation in the cargo bay under the bunk and will hold a couple of jugs worth believe it or not.

Step One. Pressure test the cooling system.
-
Yeah, with no pressure when taking the cap off. It's almost got to be a leak.. Hopefully rules out a head gasket or liner anyway.. It's been deleted, but I see the e.G.R cooler is still on there.Maybe that could be the problem

Charge air cooler has zero to do with coolant. Its an air to air heat exchanger.
35+ years ago they used JWAC, which used engine coolant to cool the boosted air but I don't believe those are widely used anymore.wore out, Oxbow, Isafarmboy and 1 other person Thank this.
