Cummins, Powerstroke, Duramax

Too vague a question.

 

The Hot Shots and Floats around me pretty much have the Dodge /Cummins motors. The ones who change the oil regularly and maintain their trucks are getting 400 thousand and more out of them.
The Duramax people don't seem to have many issues. Finding someone that will work on them and parts seem to be their problems.
The Power stroke folks cry more about the transmissions than anything else. Expensive to fix and not much in the way of parts on the shelf.

 

go with the cummins been hauling campers for 10 years with mine and i'm just under 800k on it.only major engine work was a head gasket that was bad when i bought the truck with 200k on it. and i just recently rebuilt the factory turbo thinking it was bad but it was a 12 dollar sensor instead.i am on my 2nd transmission 4th water pump 3rd steering gear box 2nd fuel pump it's also been deleted, tuned and strait piped since 200k,i get 23mpg empty and normally around 15mpg with 10-12k on the back unless it's a head wind, not to bad for a 18yr old truck. i only run amsoil signature series in it and change it every 15-20k i work it hard but never beat on it. if your ever around the elkhart/goshen area you'll see more transporters drive dodges.
