I was very fortunate to get on with this company through a friend. I lucked out because I was going to work for a mega. have been working here for the past few years. It's kind of small with only 13 drivers and I have loved it here mainly because we don't work all of that hard. We get weekends off every single week and we don't touch any of the Freight. Only use an average of 8 hours a day on our clocks.

Yesterday, the boss called all of us in for a meeting and told us that they are going through a couple of setbacks and unfortunately he is going to have to cut our pay. He did say it is only temporary, but could not give any of us a time estimate on when everything would be back to normal. He says that he thinks of all of us like a family and appreciates all of the hard work we have done and said he understands if we want to leave, but said he will not forget those of us that have stuck around and went through the hard times with him.

I asked a driver who has been working here for 15 years and he says that this is the first pay cut that he has ever seen oh, but he did say that the boss is a very fair man and he does his best for us.

So far, one driver has been talkin about quitting.

As of this moment, my pay has been cut all the way down to $83,000.

my question is how long should I wait this out before I start seeking other employment?

    D.Tibbitt and truckdriver31 Thank this.

That’s still great money for what your doing, a pay cut sucks, but you won’t make that anywhere else unless you get on a union gig or Walmart

That's right; hang in there. $83K is good pay. He's probably going under soon, but you might as well enjoy the $83K for now.
Look around and have a backup plan in place to use when the first check doesn't clear.

It's not oil or tanker. Just regular live load dry in Atlanta.

    Yes, what he said.
You should go to bed every night praying to the Lord Almighty that you have a job like that, sounds like cake.

I'm with everyone else. Hang in there. Be tough to make more than what you are now anyway. At least if you wait till it goes down your boss will give you a good resume for your next job.
