Company has been experiencing damages to the roofs of vehicles that are loaded in the 8 and 9 spot. Anything you guys use to keep vehicles from bouncing and hitting top deck?

This industry has a big problem in that it is full of guys who haul cars who think that they are actually carhaulers. You hire actual carhaulers you don't have these kind of problems. As a company the only thing you can do is make sure the shocks are good on the equipment. Everything else is on the driver.

We only hire guys with experience. Problem is guys with experience are also damaging the vehicles(in this instance JLR)

I have seen people drag the floating back bottom deck causing it to rise up and cause damage. I am not aware personally of any damage on #8 on the roof if proper space is allowed overhead. Enlighten us if you do find out what caused it other than being too close.

    Hammer166 Thanks this.

Didn't listen to me. Most of the guys who think they are carhaulers are nothing but a bunch of ####ing hacks.

I work in and around Denver most of the time, but there's probably 50 or 60 guys that I see on a regular basis, a lot of whom have been in this business for over a decade. There aren't more than five or six I would call car haulers

A big part of that is men’s men are far and few between, these days. The percentage of men who’ve grown up under OG parents, grandparents, and extended families has dwindled. People can bag on Amish and other traditional-valued families all they want. But, the result is able-bodied adults who know how to take care of business. The “English” have been brainwashed into the idea that institutional learning is what is needed/important in society. Unfortunately, that has only created a country of idiots who can’t so much as change a flat tire on a bicycle. Society’s offspring might’ve made it through CDL school (an institution), but, that doesn’t make them a trucker. However, just about any young man off a farm can drive a truck and will understand the mechanics of it, as well.

I'd say that's an accurate assessment. Sad part is, even the few who do grasp things have the attitude that it takes too long to do it right. Absolute minimum effort.

My buddy and I talk about it, all the time. We’ve both been trainers, but, gave it up, because of disgust and risk. What’s happening just isn’t worth it, anymore. I can only imagine how much worse it is for your industry. There’s just so much more knowledge needed to properly haul cars.

Straps and quickloaders have dumbed it down substantially, but yeah, disgust is a good word.
