Dash cam catches violent dump truck rollover in O'Neill Tunnel

A Boston motorist’s dash cam was rolling this morning when a dump truck crashed in the O’Neill Tunnel, leaving one person injured.

The crash happened on March 2 around 8:30 a.m. on I-93 north through the O’Neill Tunnel in Boston, Massachusetts.

In video captured at the scene, you can see the dump truck overturn, spilling a load of gravel during the busy morning rush hour.

The dump truck driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

The crash left gravel on three lanes of travel and resulted in significant traffic backups.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

You can see dash cam video of the crash below.

I can't figure out what caused the dump truck driver to swerve to the left like that. That seems to be what started the whole chain of events.

Also, I lol'd when I saw the semi driver making sure to get past the debris field. He ain't stopping. You can tell C H Robinson that his load's going to be on time.

Didn't see a tire pop.. looks like he drifted while playing candy crush and over corrected.

Edit: Did see a tire go just before the hard right that sent it over. Tire come off the rim during the flop. Going with overloaded and it blew a tire

So many links with news videos or tunnel video. The above link is the one from a motorists dash cam.

Looks like a driver was spooked by the semi in the right lane.

Either falling asleep, medical condition or playing cell game on wheel.

The swaying set up a harmonic that eventually overthrew the rig. The load is a darn sight heavier than that rig. It only takes one big sway. You correct fail to pay off and the next sway is bigger and you fight harder setting up bigger sways. After a few its all over.

Rig on right is going to have damage of some sort. He did not react fast enough, I don't think it mattered after a certain time has passed.

My dump has done some swaying in her day. What I do is add just a tiny bit of wheel into the direction of the first big one even if I took a lane or two. She'll settle. Traffic would just have to take care of itself.

He drifted a bit and over corrected causing a swaying chain of events. Those single alxe trucks are dangerous in my opinion. Probley loaded heavy too .
