    Hello,
I'm about to buy Columbia 120 with 14L 515hp, 10spd and 3.58 ratio on 750k miles and planning to haul loads no more then 30k pounds (dry van) at most of the time driving south/east/midwest and central america at most and trying to find some more information how to be better fuel efficient. Should i keep looking for 12.7L detroit or 14L would be ok for good mpg?
What MPGs to expect from both engines?

    Thank you!

60 series=less maintenance cost, dd15=more maintenance cost, especially with no warranty. oil changes cost more on dd engine, 3 or 4 fuel filters plus oil filter, if the fuel pump goes down on dd, its about $9000 repair bill because it puts metal into the whole fuel system so you have to replace all fuel system components, injectors, fuel pump, fuel filter module, drain the tanks, flush the tanks, labor etc. dd series is notorious for oil leaks, cam housing, air comp, oil/coolant module gaskets all leak. 60 series if spec'd right 6-8mpg, dd series 5-6mpg maybe 7 if your lucky. I would be looking for a 12.7 non-egr 60 series over the 14l egr, but that's my preference.

    rdelight Thanks this.
