    - First post -

Can anyone help diagnose the following problem that occurred …

I have a 2017 Western Star 5700xe with a DD15 - I had to park in San Antonio, TX for the weekend until my appointment on Monday. I have a generator and portable AC unit that I run to stay cool so I don’t normally idle my truck prolonged periods of time. I turn the truck on occasionally just to let it run a for a short period (15 min or so).
Friday and Saturday I had no issue however, Sunday when I had the truck running on idle, I had it up to approx 700-800 RPM suddenly I noticed it slowly started to climb to 1200 RPM. I turned it off, ran the truck again and it did it again. Both times, after 5 minutes of idle it starts to rise.
    Anyone know whats wrong ???

Also if this is just the trucks auto elevate system - whats the appropriate amount of time to let it run ?

I would guess it is doing a parked regen.

Would it regen even though I haven't had it running long … I would say throughout the weekend the total run time would be 2 hours.

Is it something new that started happening? Regen runs around 1500rpm, there’s also passive regen that runs around 1200 rpm. Might be what you’re experiencing.

Sounds kind of like it was starting a regen and you shut it down. On mine I have to hit a switch to get it to do it. I’m not sure on yours it’s a few years older but still ghg17. You should let it run and see what happens.

I let it regen and it finished in about 15 minutes. I was just confused because the regen light didnt turn on until 10 minutes in so I was worried it could of been another issue.

    Thank you for your help.

On some versions of the ecm the light does not come on until actual regen starts not during warm-up.
