Swift is fine. They're training system has gotten better the last few years.
You're first year you'll be so overwhelmed you won't be able to tell the difference between good and bad. The proper perspective is that there aren't any horrible companies and there aren't any super companies for trainees. Any differences are in negligible. It comes down to what you make of it.Sam Hell Thanks this. -
if you dont got any driving exp if u come up with 2k i would tell you to check out Con-Way great company to drive for. Better then most of others. We get our miles but like all companys u got good and bad weeks.

May Trucking has a terminal now in Gary, Indiana. They're a decent training & entry level company, their equipment is newer, etc. You're just gonna have to bite the bullet anyways until you get at least 6 mos to a year under your belt.
Take a drive over to Gary and visit with the OCM, Danny Boyd, he's a personable gent. Good luck! -
Considering you are a new driver, good luck finding employment. I've searched multiple trucking companies and despite the bad things we've heard, Swift is one of the few who will hire newbies. My son is a newbie driving for Swift and very unhappy with the less than minimum wage pay and averages being home less than 2 days a month. They claim to allow you to be home 1 day after working 6 days but if they don't get you a load close to your residence after you request to be off, (I think) you lose those days if they are not used in the 30 day period. A relative and an experienced truck driver advised my son "no on Werner, Schneider or Swift." If you find a company hiring flatbed drivers with only a few months driving experience, please let me know and I certainly will do the same for you. GOOD LUCK TO YA & SAFE TRAVELS!!
