Hi all. Hope everyone is well.

so I have about 3.5 years experience in dry van with some reefer experience. I have a safe driving record with no incidents. I just took a pretty substantial pay cut.

The company I currently work for does not have a terminal in Florida and so I’m having to reach into my pocket for parking.

I am on a regional dedicated out of Florida but am open to otr provided I’m able to get home if parents need me (not very often).

i know the economy and industry is unstable right now but I keep hearing drivers say they are getting raises. Meanwhile our company cut our pay.

Any companies you would recommend? And no, I do not like sitting. Thanks in advance!

Your pay cut is yet further evidence of the unfolding dismal freight market in general.

To circumvent this problem--you may well have to think "outside the box" (i.e., do something besides pull boxes).

You don't say what part of "Flawider" your from (and yes, that would help with the resulting advice A LOT), but aside from that......have you checked out this carrier (they're pretty busy, as I understand it):

Indian River Transport -- Lake Wales, FL

To drive for them -- a tanker endorsement is required; hazmat is not needed, but is encouraged.

There's a whole thread on them here in the Forum. It's a really good thread:

    Indian River | Page 165 | TruckersReport.com Trucking Forum | #1 CDL Truck Driver Message Board (thetruckersreport.com)

If we know what city you are closest to in "Flawider"....we can maybe make recommendations that are perhaps more local.

Thanks so much for your reply. Tampa area but opens really. Just wanna be able to keep personal vehicle at terminal for swap if I need to tend to personal business.

i did just go to DMV to get info for adding tanker and hazmat although I’m not thrilled about hazmat.

There are tons of distribution centers, all over Lakeland. You wouldn’t have to deal with parking. Start searching that area, whether online or simply driving around, over there.

Which company are you with now? Curious because pay is being cut.

Being spooked by hazmat is like being spooked by your own shadow.

A lot of dry van loads are "hazmat".....simply because of everyday products like hairspray, charcoal, lighter fluid, and such. No big deal, really.

Without hazmat--you'll leave A LOT of money on the table over the course of your driving career. :( :Transportation cost
