Actually if I remember correctly it is per federal law a carrier must get a detailed 3 year work history.

 

Its always the BIG BAD Company that followed the rules by requesting proof of prior employment , if you owned a business would you hire someone that had 22 jobs in past 36 months , or could not prove he worked last year ?

 

Well they have the right to decline you employment , as your likely just starting out in trucking best thing to do is keep looking.

How big of a gap you talking about?

 

Keep trying but make sure you can provide some sort of written verification by a non-family member of unemployment periods, especially recent unemployment periods. For all they know you were working but were fired for theft and chose not to include that employer. The more driver applications a carrier has in their system, the choosier they can rightfully become. But in the US trucking industry, 10 years employment history is required, any/all unemployment gaps and these typically need some sort of verification if they really want to press the issue.
