Another day, another protest it seems.

These guys have had 15 years to prepare for this and they’ve done nothing. Two weeks before the law takes effect, they start kicking and screaming about it. MTO told them during their last little fit that It’s too late, they should’ve done this back when it was proposed.

The last round saw MTO put their foot down on the matter, saying that truckers have had "nearly 10 years to ensure compliance." :banghead:

There was a pile of dump trucks protesting at the Windsor scale on Monday. Pretty sure they didn't get anywhere with the MTO officers that were there.

Such a great article. Not once does it mention what this "retrofit" is these guys are b####ing about. Only that it costs "$40,000"

Would be nice if the article would say what the actual new law is....

It’s regarding lift axles on straight trucks. Ontario now requires these particular axles to be steerable so they can be left down the entire time the truck is loaded. The older axles weren’t meant to steer and had to be lifted up to make turns and such.

There is a ''group'' of gravel haulers being really aggressive with rates and now are complaining they have no money to update. The MTO are saying the parties over and you had 15 years to get ready.
A lot of trucks have had their gross weight
    reduced.
I think that's the gist of it.

Are those dump truck drivers in TO also East-Indian? Cause out West we've had/got same issue at the ports where they screwed themselves down to nothing and then went on strike to protest the rates! These people have no idea how to compete on service, it's just lower and lower rates, make it cheaper and cheaper. So hence it creates a never-ending clusterfack.
