I guaranty you no Detroit 60 series has ever revved up to 14k rpm. Maybe you meant 1400?

Was thinking the same thing......
.73 with 3.55 on 22.5 rubber gives 57mph @ 1250rpm.
you can't hit 70 mph in .73 until 1500 rpm or in .87 until 1700 rpm.

I have a regular 10spd, 11r front tires and 445/50/22.5 rear tires ...am going 70 at about 1740rpm...is this ok?... i feel like its too high of a rpm for my 60 series to be at constant cruise, so i usually go 65 at about 1620...Was thinking of switching back to the 8 tires with 11rs or 4... 455/55/22.5.... Would like to be able to cruise 70mph around 1600....

Generally speaking I think 1740 rpm' s is a little high, but I know some guys that run their Detroit's like that. Probably not hurting much..except maybe a little fuel economy.
As an educated guess, going to 455/55/22.5 will slow down your rpm's by about 100... For the same road speed. As compared to 455/50/22.5 -
