I guaranty you no Detroit 60 series has ever revved up to 14k rpm. Maybe you meant 1400?

The easiest thing to do is flick the red button back on your shifter. Problem solved.

Yep. Why make it more complicated than it has to be. If its geared good otherwise, just run it in 8L.

    was

    Was thinking the same thing......

    .73 with 3.55 on 22.5 rubber gives 57mph @ 1250rpm.

you can't hit 70 mph in .73 until 1500 rpm or in .87 until 1700 rpm.

    he's mistaken

I have a regular 10spd, 11r front tires and 445/50/22.5 rear tires ...am going 70 at about 1740rpm...is this ok?... i feel like its too high of a rpm for my 60 series to be at constant cruise, so i usually go 65 at about 1620...Was thinking of switching back to the 8 tires with 11rs or 4... 455/55/22.5.... Would like to be able to cruise 70mph around 1600....

what is your rear end ratios, and is your 10 speed a direct or overdrive transmission.? With that information you can Google spicer road speed calculator, and find out what tire sizes will do for your rpm's.

Generally speaking I think 1740 rpm' s is a little high, but I know some guys that run their Detroit's like that. Probably not hurting much..except maybe a little fuel economy.

As an educated guess, going to 455/55/22.5 will slow down your rpm's by about 100... For the same road speed. As compared to 455/50/22.5
