detroit series 60 fan stays on

    mine is doing the same thing, is driving me crazy!! already replaced the selenoid.... it just not getting ground!

    check a/c high pressure switch, and or the a/c system could be overcharged if you just did any work to it. to high of pressure turns fan on to bring it down.

    High pressure switch is good...pressure on ac system is good... the clutch works good.. tested with ground directly from the chassis... water temp sensor was changed... I heard the fan selenoid gets its ground from the ecm!

    Did anyone figure it out cause we're having the same problem...it's 6 degrees outside and the fan runs constantly

    Ive got the same problem. New clutch fan and solenoid. All relays r good. Mines a 99 classic xl

    hi psi switch on a/c receiver dryer normally.

    Thanks but it was the clutch fan itself....leaking air made it stay on all the time

    There was a bulletin on my 99 Classic w/ Detroit for the plug harness for solenoid. Upgrade kit includes a new pin connector must use special crimp tool. Freightliner Youngstown told me about it after asking everyone every chance I got. That’s been about 12 yrs ago. Currently have 01 Classic doing same thing. Fan comes on anytime it wants to Summer or winter.I need to find out if solenoid or harness.Might really be hard to get info on bulletin these days. As it was hard back then. I know old thread but think it’s worth keeping till solved.
