The way I read into this, is the OP is a LEGAL immigrant trying to earn an honest living driving a truck. The company owner(s), being immigrants themselves, know how easily they can scam other immigrants who are less aware of the dirty tricks that are commonly played by crooks in this industry. It could also be due to a bit of desperation on the drivers' part, trying to become a citizen and needing a job and money badly. The driver can't afford to be choosy, so they go with this company thinking it's a good choice and end up getting burned.

 

He was given a reefer load to take to Portland.
The trucking company owner knew the load was too hot, so he told the driver to remove the temp. device (tattle-tale) that was inside the trailer, which would show the load was too hot. The driver probably didn't understand he was being set up.

 

Location location location! Parking for the inventory, parking for employees, and parking for VIPs. Also walking distance to a QT.

 

Props to you for not removing the temp recorder. Even if you did, it probably wouldve gotten freight claimed when they saw the quality of the product (yes, they can claim hidden damages and it's still the same result).
