DHS Confirms Illegal Immigrant Trucker in Another Deadly CA Crash

Thing I can never understand even here in Canada when an illegal commits a crime especially one causing death , Why is he even offered bail at all. We’ve had a few use other people’s passport to skip the country to avoid jail.. heck one even got caught coming back into the country under a new name years later.

 

Innocent until proven guilty principle.
Law is equal to legal and illegal suspects.
The flight risk must be assessed at the court's discretion. Maybe they should use monitoring devices - you take it off, cops are on their way to lock you up... or something to that effect.

 

This is one of the arguments against cash bail. Bonds should be considered over two points only - is the person a threat to the community/likelihood of committing similar crimes and will the person show up in court?

 

Unfortunately we have it completely backwards. Let out everyone that shouldn’t and keep most that should. Also the cost per person is dumb as can be.
All crimes need to be created equal. If you do X you get X amount of time. No loopholes for anyone. And I would say the same for bonds. It should cost the same no matter what the person is rather rich, poor, or color. This bs they do now is insane.
