I did this same thing last year, this time in the dead of winter driving around Pennsylvanian and Ohio mostly. It was easier this time. Never felt hungry or thirsty, even in the last hour my throat was never dry,
I do fasting like this for good health. Autophagy while fasting recycles all the old proteins in the body that are damaged potential cancer risks. It gives all my organs a rest from having to digest food. It also allowed me to tighten my belt by a notch. I wear 32 inch jeans, but now can comfortably fit in 30 inch pants I am certain.
The reason I was never thirsty is because my normal diet is nothing but fresh beef, bacon, and eggs everyday. Being used to zero carbohydrates, my body is constantly burning fat. When fat metabolizes it actually creates 110% of its same weight in water. This is because the oxygen we breath combines with the abundant amount of hydrogen in the fat to create even more h2o in greater amounts than the actual fat. If your body is burning protein or carbohydrates for fuel, they contain far less hydrogen, creating far less water.
The body is highly intelligent and knows how to keep itself healthy, When my body stopped getting water, it simply cranked up the metabolism of fat to increase its water supply. I was urinating twice a day even at the end. The only reason so many folks think metabolic diseases are inevitable is because of the processed foods we eat these days. I intend to never take a single medication or visit a doctor for the rest of my life. This is the way to do it. I will be fifty soon, and I am in better health now than when I was in my 20s and in the infantry.
Unless you are on a low carbohydrate diet, I would not recommend you try dry fasting. You body needs to be adapted to burning fat. I started out slow over the years to work my way up to this. Four years ago I started eating just two meals a day, in an eight hour window. Then about six months after that i went to one meal a day. Then I would try going 48 hours with no food but still drinking water. Then two years ago I went three days with no food but still drinking water. Until last year i went without water either and did the same thing this year just now. There are folks on youtube that claim they have gone 11 days, no food no water.
Did my second 72 hour dry fast over the road

I’ve never done that but I did do a two day liquid diet a couple months ago. Need to do it again.
A Bug Thanks this. -
I fasted one time... about 2 hours.
I'm sorry ... I gotta eat.Milr72, Crude Truckin', '88K100 and 8 others Thank this. -
Most of the people in the world are that way. When you eat the standard american diet of processed carbs and sugars, you will always be hungry. It has been a long time since i felt hungry even when eating only once a day. When your body eats only fat and some protein, your body will never be hungry again.Gearjammin' Penguin, Tall Mike and austinmike Thank this.

Always enjoyed your posts about stuff like this. I have completed a 48 hour water only fast a couple times now and its amazing how good i feel once that intial hunger response goes away
silverspur, Tall Mike, austinmike and 1 other person Thank this. -
I do a 48 hour water fast every three months, but I'll break my fast with sardines and eat sardines for the next day, so it's 72 hour restrictive diet. The sardines are perfect for putting the best nutrition back in your body to rebuild .
Edit: I recommend the King Oscar Low Sodium Sardines in water, do not get olive oil as it's low quality.. get them in water and add your own olive oil..Last edited: Feb 10, 2026
Reason for edit: Sardine recommendation.M22 rockcrusher, silverspur, '88K100 and 3 others Thank this. -
No chicken or fish?
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
Trout, snapper, and salmon is a rare thing for me, only when i am at home sometimes. Maybe a few times a year. I am on the road for three weeks at a time with one week off. While in the truck I only cook the three main foods beef, bacon, and eggs. Usually the same thing at home too. The last time I had seafood was when my wife and I went to an expensive restaurant for our anniversary many months ago. It has been many years since I had chicken. Nothing wrong with it except that it is not quite as nutritious as beef, and I do not care for it much.D.Tibbitt and reeferwrencher Thank this.
