Do any newer trucks come without the collision mitigation system?

I definitely wonder how these 2027 epa will be. One thing is for certain, it looks like another 15 to 20k per truck. Hopefully these 17k apu’s will make their own fuel to pay for it. lol
These truck and trailer costs are out of control. New reefers are 105 to 110k by the time chrome out an s600 with lights, t bar, extra temp sensors, inflation, scale, extra tire, e track, placards if you need them, decals. etc. A good 315k per connected unit and another 15 to 20k isn’t going to make it any prettier.
If you have 250k cargo and haul important loads, you’re probably rolling with 500k. A lot of responsibility whether it’s yourself or a hired professional.Deere hunter, Siinman, Toomanybikes and 2 others Thank this. -
As pissed off as I was about loosing a 2026 spot for the 4.9% paccar financial special I’m glad my early 27 has the current level emissions, typical of once they figure it out, they go and change it again.. think I’m going to try a green apu which was 14k installed, especially if I’m going to go back to spending this much time in the truck
Knock on wood, I’ve been pretty happy with my carrier 7500, which is something I never thought I would say, my sb200 is still kicking too but I’ll probably fall through the floor on that one before the end of the year, so either new box and swing unit or maybe a couple year old trailer/unit, don’t really want another new wagon without know how long this excess freight thing is going to last,
I’ve had 250k cargo for a while now, I should probably talk with my agent about upping it again next renewal now that you Mention thatLast edited: Aug 19, 2026
Midwest Trucker and Siinman Thank this. -
I have a 23 Volvo VNL 860 that I bought new and only has lane assist in it but it can be turned off by a switch. Most big companies specs have all the nanny stuff installed. If you can find a owner op used truck would be your best bet.

I’m in a 24kw company truck with the nanny crap. It can be set to not hit the brakes, all our trucks at our yard have had it disabled. Mines never braked on me, that’ll be final straw for me when I get a truck that hits brakes on ghosts.
