I expect that after a certain number of years experience behind the wheel that the insurer is more concerned about a driver's MVR than they are about a completion certificate.
Do companies really care about a certificate?

I was reading through that ELDT page posted by @Peelsession and even once it is in place there is no mandatory classroom time or behind the wheel time. It is completely at the discretion of the trainer and/or school. So there will be good training programs and bad. As soon as the student can pass the knowledge test and road-test at DMV they will be graduated by the school so that they can collect money from a new student. I don't see how it improves the quality of a new CDL driver in any way. One more government regulation that has cost us money and time with zero benefit at the end.

I just finished a company sponsored 4 week training at one of the best technical colleges in the country for trucking. I got a certificate of completion but it's not accredited. The school also has a 10 week program that is accredited and you go through all that graduation stuff and get a real certification.
Companies don't care about a piece of paper just that you have a clean record and experience. Some people are great students but can't apply what they learned out in the real world. So experience is everything. No matter where or how you get your CDL they all say the same thing on that piece of plastic.
