    on duty.
I was pulled in at a scale in Wyoming and officer inside said thanx for being on duty. he said surprised how many go offduty.
He didn't say if he ticket them or not.
cool dude. We chatted a bit while he was checking my paperwork and logs

Same as paper. It's on duty time. HOS didn't change....

On-duty time means all time from the time a driver begins to work or is required to be in readiness to work until the time the driver is relieved from work and all responsibility for performing work. On-duty time shall include:
    (2) All time inspecting, servicing, or conditioning any commercial motor vehicle at any time;

If he doesn't speak English well enough to be understood by a DOT cop, why did you hire him in the first place?

Bean Jr., Bo Hunt, whoopNride and 8 others Thank this.

He does speak well enough. I don’t speak Spanish but I talk to my driver every day in only English. The cop was talking really quickly and wasn’t being patient.

If I remember correctly the CDL test has to be done in English which he passed as well.

Upinsmoke, MIT and Bean Jr. Thank this.

Yeah, they need to understand english well enough to under stand what a "civil servant/LEO" is asking them. For emergency situations.

    Upinsmoke Thanks this.

He has to be able to competently converse with any LEOs.
I don't how they do it anymore, but years ago when they did a level 1, you stayed behind the wheel. And, as such, you were supposed log it on duty, driving.

    Upinsmoke Thanks this.

On-duty. Nope, can't get it back.

How hard to you push drivers that they can't afford the time for an inspection?

    Haste makes waste.

    Upinsmoke Thanks this.
