I'm warning all student cdl a holders....do not lease with trans am, you do not make money. I currently work for trans am and have to work with them atleast for another 2 months till I get my experiece in to go with another company without going through that long terrible coach training again... I'm not going to bad mouth trans am there doing exactly what they are suppossed to do..there company and they want to make as much profit as possible...but I promise you as a lease driver for trans am you will not make any money...I have the paychecks to prove it...I only go home 4 days a month, I run 60 miles an hour to keep my mpg at 7.5. I keep my dispatcher updated at all times..I do everything they told me to do to succeed with trans am...I made zero dollars on my paycheck this week, and I had 3200 miles on it. I called them up to have them explain this to me, I get put on hold for 45 mins then forward to a answering machine were they never return my phone call... all my paychecks average 400...I payed 5000 for truck driving school, have no life anymore, don't see my friends and family, eat very unhealthy because of the life .style of living in a truck..too make as much as a mcdonalds employee...its very fusterating. Please I don't want to see anybody else where I have fallen..doo not lease with trans am..I had to give up my appartment because I do not make enough to keep it. So even if I quit I would be homeless..don't make the same mistake I did....oh and don't let them fool you about they have the new trucks and there the best...I have a 2010 t660 with 60000 miles on it..It broke down on me 3 times already..I had to pay for tows and parts out of my pay..waste money on hotel while it was in the shop and couldn't move freight to make miles..I only have had this truck for 34 days now....what they do is pay you enough to keep the truck rolling..you as a lease driver don't make any profit...just say no to trans am lease..please

Jazzy J and Lonesome Thank this.

This is what it's like to lease to 90% of the companies that hire O/O's and lease them trucks. Just replace "Trans Am" with any name from a Mega-Carrier.

Man, I'm sorry, I'm feeling your pain. Mostly because I've been there, just like all of us- it's just paying your dues, this is where you have to open the can of Whoopass and take a big swig. Tomorrow is a new day, another load, another paycheck, another week, month- before you know it, you'll outlast the bad circumstances and get through it all. Someday that truck will be paid. Years from now you'll be glad you toughed it out.

Or, you'll be glad you quit.

Leasing a truck is not a good idea to begin with, leasing one right out of school with no experience is crazy.

Sorry your having a hard time with trans-am, but every company that leases, will have someone saying, you cant make it at ??????, and some say you can make it at ??????, personally, when your a rookie driver, not saying you are, just going by the years trucking you put on your info, but when new to this industry, you should drive company for at least a couple of years before changing to the O/O side, being a O/O is running your own buisness, not just driving the truck and waitting for someone else to do everything else, good luck in your next adventure

Reading this fellow newbies cry in the dark makes me cringe. I could not even imagine being a lease operator right after company orientation & the subsequent "training." But what I can imagine is knowing better -before- the situation were to get so bad that I would lose my apartment, waistline, & possibly my life due to a companies bottom line & a drivers own foolishness because i just read Don Lapre's biography.

Speaking of cringing, foolishness and another victim of his own stupidity, Don Lapre commited suicide last night while in federal custody awaiting trial. Many "truckers may not know who Lapre was because they were most likely driving late at night in the mid nineties or two young to read but he was a man self determined to make it & fail all at the same time. .

Don started this road to complete ruin with a credit repair business called Unknown Concepts that in turn sold thousands of products yet offered clients no real solution for their problem in 1990. Lapre went to to develop and market products such as "The Greatest Vitamin in the World" and the "Making Money Package"( all ventures also peaked the interest of the FBI).

Even though Lapre was constantly criticized for selling bunk vitamins & questionable business plans that often did not work for his clients he solidered on and devised, developed, and once again marketed CMR 9000 and Web Freedom which for a $295 payment students would revisit internet and direct marketing stratagies which included the "tiny classified ads" method Lapre style.

In June 2011, Lapre was charged with 41 counts of conspiracy, mail fraud, wire fraud, and promotional money laundering related to his Internet businesses and.direct involvement with the miracle products such as "The Greatest Vitamin in the World" and the "Making Money Package".

Don's take on the entire process in a nut shell, "I did not have the perfect company, but never once did I allow one thing to be done that would violate any law", he wrote on donlapre.com. "Nevertheless, because the majority of people did not make money ... I am left to fight a battle that will for sure destroy what energy I have left inside." And it sure did. Why, because of his own foolishness.

What do you ask does the story about a dead and gone TV pitchman/ripoff artist have to do with trucking? Well, the answer is simple. If you are doing something and red flags pop up all over the place that you are doing the wrong thing it is best to heed those alerts instead of discounting them, then re-access the present situation, and make positive changes in your life so that you do not end up having to slit your own throat in a jail cell and bleed your life blood all over the floor.

Therefore, if Trans Am leasing has you at the end of your rope with no money in your pocket then it is high time to wait out the terms of your lease, quit the company, start somewhere new (after much research), and never ever make that horrible decesion again. Otherwise, if you contuine making the same mistakes over and over again it wont be pretty when it ends.
