Just a heads up because eventually you’ll probably get a code 10 or the entire unit is frozen or has frozen itself up. even continuous mode won’t work at that point. Usually your company will call you as soon as it happens if they’re properly monitoring the reefers but not always. You’ll have an hour max depending on the outside temperature and what the temperature is inside to save the load. You can clear out the error codes and the unit will probably run for about 10 to 15 minutes at a time. This means wherever they direct you to take the unit for repair you’ll have to stop about every 10 minutes on the side of the freeway or wherever else you can to keep turning the unit back on....hopefully this will keep it cool enough to save the load.
Been there, done that: not fun. But when you got $40,000 worth of food or more on the back of that Trailer, it’s some serious motivation.
Do reefers go into idle?

I'll keep what you said in mind, we run alot of frozen food for Walmart. When I checked the trailer today after unloading, there was this huge glob of ice at the back on the floor. First time I've ever seen that. -
Funny TK or Carrier would not put a data pack that a owner or driver could download a performace graph , they only been in buisness a gazillion year's

Just a little note about defrost cycle . It stops blowing air into the box and only heats up the condenser area to melt the ice buildup . Return air sensor is there that’s why temp looks so high on display . Pay attention after a defrost you’ll see display temp drop very fast once it starts circulating through box again .

Not knocking this driver, but when did reefer companies stop explaing how the reefer unit works to the drivers when they are hired???
Do they just point at the "on" button and say "push that" when its a temp controlled load?
My first reefer job explained all the "how, why and what for" before i left to pick up the first load.Canadianhauler21, Speed_Drums and 062 Thank this. -

I Always force a manual defrost after loading/unloading if i have to do it with the unit running, if it’s really humid out I will force another defrost after an hour or so after the doors are closed again to try and get rid of the extra moisture
