Been driving for 7 years or so, and it feels like 20. My dad and grandfather both drove a lot longer than me. I really did enjoy it for the first few years, but I feel like I've seen it all and I'm tired of dealing with the nonsense; plus there are other ways to make money independently. Never thought I'd feel that way. I have enough money now to try and explore other things and I'm probably going to hang it up soon. I need to start enjoying life. Just wondering, do you still enjoy it?

    Coffey Thanks this.

There were days here and there I enjoyed it. I've mostly hated it since I started in mid-1990s

Dec will be 8 years for me. I still enjoy it but I don't live in the truck 24/7 either. Also don't have a nanny truck either with all the bs like lane departure and all that jazz

As someone said these companies hiring 20 year old kids with low GPAs as dispatch is what is ruining everything.

That and the cameras and microphones, is a big turn off.

Still like driving and am good at it, but not so enthusiastic as before.

Forgot to mention I have 7 years.

I only have 3 years but I still enjoy it. It's good money and don't have to be around people often. My day always goes by fast. In fact the slowest part of my day is when I'm not driving.

Late 1970s……no it’s not enjoyable. But it’s all I’ve ever done. And I haven’t even done a load in like 4 years . Truck is just sitting ….everything is a pain in the butt now…..

Been at it since 1977 trucking has always been a good time its not anymore.
Everywhere I go seems its a hassle to get loaded or unloaded. They're never ready or short on help.
The money is not there anymore with $5.00 + fuel

Had a delivery of oil for a costco today, where the forklift driver punctured one of the boxes in the pallet; loaded it all back up and pretended it never happened. Had to deal with another broker for the millionth time, and waste my day dealing with that, and I thought is this going to be my life? Been ready for a change for a long while, and I really think this has sealed the deal for me. You waste too much of your life for the money. It's better than some jobs, but not worth it if there are other options. People can't drive, 4 wheels and 18 alike. You can't even park somewhere without thinking of the 17 different ways you'll be blocked in. Maybe this #### just makes you jaded. Don't think it's worth it for me anymore. Respect and good luck for all of you that continue on.

The amount of free labor involved in trucking is discouraging. Fueling, waiting etc.

And then companies play tricks to get even more out of a driver. Right now plenty local non trucking jobs available with good pay.

    Rideandrepair and Pandemic Thank this.

I've been living in my Cascadia(s) with The OM for 4+ years now.

We still enjoy it a lot.
