Where do you live that a guy was telling you that? 5/6 stops are not the norm.
What terminal you going to be based out of?

I think he was from NJ but he's based out of Baltimore terminal. The first day I did my paperwork there was another guy who was complaining cause dispatch gave him load that has 5 stops. I was shocked when I heard that cause the most I got when I was with PMTG was 2. And I'm also gonna be working out of Baltimore terminal

Well you did get hired at one of the slow times of the year. I don't think that is a norm there but I very seldom go in there. I live a hour north of there but tend to run longer freight and stay gone for weeks. I'm dispatched out of Greer though.

I am yes. These days you should have a TWIC in car hauling in my opinion to do well or at least gives you more options I should say.

Yea I'm about to pick up at port in Baltimore just to see what's it like but I definitely would like to start going south checking out these ports like Brunswick & Geer & Jacksonville seeing the lanes & all should be better especially running south for winter

Car hauling is only worth good money if you go far out with loads other than that it's a joke its a money loophole for rookies wanting to make big dream money. Car hauling has the highest turnover rate for a reason it's not all it's said to be. Granted though there are good ones out there just got to scrafice at least two to four years of getting your swing of loading and unloading and where to get good paying loads.

This is a very subjective statement. I will give you my take on your statement from a company driver and owner operator point of view as I have been both.
1."car hauling is only good if you go far out with loads."
This is partially true for some company drivers, but many guys who deliver 2 a day make roughly $2,000 a week, home every night, this does not apply to most rookie carhaulers. Loading 2 a day is hard work and not suitable for some people, myself included most days. Rookies are better to get the longest trips they can get in my opinion until they have mastered loading. As an owner op I deliver one short load a day and 5 a week nets me right at $150,000 a year. Not bad for a 40 hour workweek home nightly. I could easily gross another $50,000-$100,000 a year if I wanted to actually work hard, but I don't. This is why I am siting on the patio having coffee at 2 in the afternoon responding to you instead of hauling cars.

2.Carhauling as a whole has a very low turnover rate for experienced drivers when compared to truckload which is roughly 100%. You are correct that there is a high dropout rate because carhaul is not for everyone. Some people like myself it took longer to excell in it than others. But one day for me it finally clicked and now with nearly 6 years experience hauling cars, I can load with the best car haulers most days.

    3. You are correct that once you get good at loading and unloading you make more money. What skilled profession do you know of that you make the same money day one as you do 5-10 years later? Carhauling is defiantly not perfect and many people would be better to stay with a steering wheel holding job. Those of us that don't like the monotony of strictly driving and bad hours, Carhauling can be a great career most days. Some of us even left high paying jobs to begin hauling cars for various reasons.

For those non carhaulers who read your statement they should take note of your points, but with a grain of salt. They should be aware that it will definitely suck at first. They should also note that for most people it will get better every day. For those who don't want physical activity at work they should stay away. For those who want a challenge and a potentially good paying career, they may want to try it. For a rookie driver at any Mega Truckload carrier they would have absolutely nothing to loose by trying carhauling.

I am sorry you haven't had a positive experience with Carhauling, but it isn't for everyone. It is for me and many of my friends. My company driver friends make over a $100,000 a year, both Union and Non-Union and are home a couple nights a week and every weekend. They also start and end their workdays when they choose to, something many steering wheel holding jobs don't allow. This is the main reason I don't still hold a steering wheel for $100,000-$140,000 a year.

**Just my point of view as everyone else may have a different point of view than me** I am not mad at your statement, but felt it needed some clarification so those who may be considering a Carhauling career can have different points of view to consider.
